DIY ribbon bows: 8 step-by-step ideas

Charming ribbon bows are appropriate always and everywhere: from beautiful gift wrapping to decorating evening dresses. They are useful in decor, for postcards and festive tables, for accessories and everyday wear. But the stores sell the same boring and uniform options. How to proceed? Of course, make a bow with your own hands!

1. Satin bow with lace

Take a 4 cm wide satin ribbon and the same piece of lace, braid or organza, but twice as thin. Cut two identical pieces, 20-22 cm long, and lay the lace over the wide ribbon. Tie off the edges to make two rings, and float them with a lighter from the inside. Place one loop on top of the other, straighten the folds and secure the bow in the center with a bead or button.

2. Small decorative bows

Small, dainty bows are great for elastic bands, hairpins, and other jewelry. They can be woven into braids or decorated with holiday cards - they are quite lightweight and compact. To do this, you will need two 15 cm long thin satin ribbon.

Make a fold about 6 cm from the edge and fold the tape along this line with an angle so that it looks down. Bring the edge back up, and fold the remaining end at the back and make the same triangular fold. The second part is done according to the same principle, only in a mirror image: measure 6 cm from the other edge. Pull the blanks with a thread, sewn together and attach to an elastic band or hair clip.

3. Classic bows

Take a wide satin ribbon and a thin translucent ribbon about twice as narrow, but in the same color scheme. Cut them into six sections: three 22 cm long and three more 19 cm long. Lace, butterflies, flowers, pebbles, beads or even beautiful buttons are suitable for decoration.

Apply a narrow tape to a wide one and burn the edges with a lighter so that they hold well. Fold two long pieces in half and sew in the middle with one thread to make a double bow. From the remaining segment, fold another bow in the same way and sew on top of the double bow directly to the seam.

From two short pieces, make a new double bow and tie in the middle. The remaining piece will go for decorative ponytails. Put all the details on top of each other and sew on top of the decor - pebbles, a flower or an openwork butterfly.

4. Contrasting black and white bow

You will need two types of tape of the same width: white and black or patterned (for example, in peas). To them, take another piece of contrasting black lace of about the same width and a decorative center. Cut the contrasting tape into three pieces of 24-25 cm each and the white one - a little shorter, about 22 cm each.

Form the simplest bow-loop from each ribbon and sew in the middle. Sew black lace on one of the white bows, and put the remaining two on top of each other - a cross on a cross. Put all three bows in polka dots together - as in the photo. All that remains is to collect all the elements and stitch them in the center.

5. Layered bows

You will need three types of satin ribbons of the same color or similar shades, but different widths (for example, from 0.5 to 4 cm). Cut the widest ribbon into twelve pieces of about 20-25 cm. Fold the edge to the mark at a distance of 9-10 cm and fold it back - according to this principle, folds are formed in this bow. Wrap the free edge in the opposite direction on the other side and make the same petal out of it.

Sew the fragment at the base, pull off the thread, carefully cut off the protruding ponytails and repeat for the rest of the segments. From the cut corners, use folded tweezers to fold the double petals and glue the edges with a lighter.

Fold the narrowest tape and tape of medium thickness on top of each other, as in the diagram. Cut them together into eight pieces 7-8 cm long and fold them into regular petal loops. Before you start assembling the bow, cut a small circle out of felt or other dense material - about 3 cm in diameter.

Put half of the large petals on a thread and pull them into a ring, and then glue the rest on the back. The next layer is volumetric loops-petals, which can be alternated with sharp single-layer leaves. And you will need the petals from the scraps to form the middle and finally form the bow.

6. Bulky bow made of loops

Such a bow will definitely turn out to be large, about 15 cm in diameter. You will need six cuts of a wide tape of 14 cm and six cuts of tape thinner, 10 cm long. And another twelve cuts of the thinnest narrow tape up to 0.5 cm wide - six 15 and six 8 cm.

Fold the widest petals-loops, pull them on a thread into a flower and immediately sew to a felt or cardboard base. From the longest narrowest segments, make antenna loops and glue them so that they lie on the surface of the wide petals. Using the same principle, collect the third layer from a wide ribbon and the fourth from short antennae.

7. Bows with decorative mesh

This is another kind of simple bows that look very impressive due to the play of contrasts. You will need a standard tape 2-2.5 cm wide and a decorative mesh tape of the same size. They should be of different colors: for a dark satin, take a white mesh and vice versa.

Cut everything into three pieces: 22 cm (two pieces) and 15 cm (one each). Glue the mesh to the satin along the protruding edge or carefully sweep with a thin thread. Collect all the blanks into rings and fold them into a simple triple bow. Decorate the top with contrasting ribbon loops and a bead stitching in the middle.

8. Small fluffy bows

If you need voluminous fluffy, but at the same time small and not very bulky bows, you can make them yourself from a thin satin ribbon. You need four 10-11 cm pieces for one bow, but you can add more petals for volume. From them, for example, beautiful decorative flowers are obtained.

Fold each cut in half and fold the edges down to create a kind of "house". Fold back the triangle, secure it with pins and gently tuck the sides towards the middle with tweezers. Fold, roll into a "rose" and sew together in two parts - this will be one side of the bow. It remains to connect both together!
