For a long time, fluffy tulle skirts remained the prerogative of holidays, children's matinees or bachelorette parties. But now eclecticism is in vogue and therefore such a bright model could not stand aside. However, finding the perfect fit, size and length is quite problematic. And why, if in just a couple of hours you can sew a tulle skirt with your own hands! You won't even need a sewing machine. Let's tell!
1. Skirt made of tulle with ruffles
This skirt is always made on a backing, to which you will sew the frill ribbons. To calculate the appropriate cut size, double the waist circumference, and add 4 cm to the length for the fold. Overlock or zigzag the long sides, stretch the lining on a flat base and tuck the top edge 2cm, but do not sew it yet.
Spread out a wide piece of tulle about 2.5-3 m long and cut into ribbons 10-13 cm each. Collect four of these ribbons in a frill with large basting stitches and do not be intimidated by the length you get - it will still go away. Fold each in half and sew at the fold with a seam with as long stitches and tension as possible.
When you're done with all the ruffles, spread them evenly over the backing and secure each one separately. The first is laid from above along the lower part of the bend, and the rest are distributed in parallel with the desired step. Stitch each frill down the center to evenly cover the backing.
Fold the backing in half with the right side with tulle inward and past the opposite edges. After that, sew the top fold and insert an elastic band into it - this will be the belt of the skirt. All that remains is to turn the product out, remove all the basting and manually straighten the frills.
2. Skirt made of tulle lined
In addition to 3-6 m of tulle, you will also need a piece of satin fabric to match. Cut the tulle into strips to match the length of the skirt you need and gather each strip on top - this will be a belt. It is most convenient to do this by hand with large basting stitches or using a special foot for a sewing machine.
The length of the assembled part should be equal to the circumference of the hips with 2-3 cm at the seams. Stitch each layer separately along the side line, and then put them all together. If the skirt turns out to be quite dense and voluminous, you can leave it unlined, but with it it will be more comfortable and more durable.
Draw a satin fabric on the petticoat: this is how the pattern for the hips with a circumference of 90 cm will look like.You will need two such details, which you will then sew on the sides with an overlock or overcast the edges with a zigzag. All that remains is to fold and sew the hem twice - and you can proceed to the assembly.
Take a wide elastic band and cut a piece about 3 cm less than your waist, and then sew the edges together. If you immediately take a decorative elastic band, you can proceed to connecting the parts. First, sweep the satin-lined tulle skirt, and only then sew on the elastic band, gently stretching it.
3. Seamless tulle skirt
To make the skirt lush and voluminous, you will need a large piece of tulle - from 10 m. To it - a strip of dense fabric that matches the color, 13-15 cm wide and 8-10 cm long more than the waist circumference. And also a wide long tape around the waist with allowances for the ties - it will be instead of an elastic band.
Mark and cut the entire tulle into strips of about 17-20 cm. Take one strip, fold it in half and tighten it with a loop-knot on the ribbon, as shown in the photographs. Repeat this with all the cuts - the more of them and the denser they are, the more magnificent the skirt will turn out. After that, you can leave the skirt like this with tie ends or sew on an even belt made of dense fabric to match.
4. Seamless checkerboard skirt
This tulle skirt is similar to the previous one, but instead of a ribbon, you need a wide checkerboard elastic. Tie the tulle ribbons not over the top, but pull them into the holes of the elastic.To make it more convenient to work, first stretch it and fix it, for example, on a book.
Pass the tulle strips into the second row - if you let them go down completely, they can break out over time. When the elastic is over, the first layer of the seamless bundle is ready. But it can always be made more voluminous: just repeat all the manipulations, but for the third row of holes, helping yourself with a pen or any other thin object.
5. Skirt-sun from tulle
To make a sun skirt, you need to fold a square piece of tulle in four layers and transfer the pattern to it. But keep in mind that one layer will be too thin, light and unremarkable. You will need at least 3-4, or even more. In fact, you just need to collect all the circles, sew them on top and stretch the elastic.
6. Layered tulle skirt
You will need a large piece of wide tulle - from 6 m, and a belt for the belt. Cut the canvas into several pieces 1.9-2.1 m long, fold each in half along the length and cut along the fold. From a 6-meter fabric with a width of 1.2-1.5 m, you will get six 2-meter fragments.
Take two pieces at a time and overlap each other on the short sides, leaving 20 cm unstitched at the top edge. Gather all the layers together and clip them together on top. Take a strong, dense thread and stretch it through all the layers along the future belt. It is best to loop through two of these seams at a short distance so that the folds are even.
Tighten the basting threads and manually adjust the gathers to distribute them evenly over the fabric. As a result, you should get the width around the waist. After that, the threads need to be fixed and stitched on top of a wide belt-belt.
